IVFDF 2006

Sessions

Sessions will be run throughout the festival in the Upper School Common Room. All sessions will be open to all instruments and abilities.

Many of this year's sessions will be hosted by Mary Humphreys and Anahata, a highly respected duo with a huge amount of session experience. Saturday's Beginners' session will feature straightforward English tunes, a number of which will have been introduced at the 'Playing for a session' workshop. Bring your favourite simple tunes and expect to play slowly.

The Saturday lunchtime session will focus on tunes used for contra with guest fiddler, the irrepressible Brian Stone (of Junction 24 and Fiddlin' Around). Then, after the display ceilidh, rattle the rafters in a singaround with Mary Humphreys.

Sunday morning starts with a Scottish and Irish session with members of the ever-exuberant Cambridge University Ceilidh Band. Then Dave Holland and Nick Hart, of local French dance group Cam-French, take us to central France, complete with hurdy gurdy and pipes. Anahata and Flos Headford finish the weekend in style with a celebration of English music.
