Mike Ruff started playing for dancing with Stag Hill Morris Surrey University. Since then he has played for Barn Dances, display teams, rapper teams, morris sides & clog dancers as well as hundreds of workshops.
As a dancer himself Mike has always been keen that his music should lift the dancers and give them that little bit more. He has been lucky enough to work with many of the finest musicians around, learning from them and creating varied sounds to suit different events and occasions
His current band, The Quicksilver Ceilidh Band, came out of Islington and Chestnuts Folk Clubs more than 20 years ago and may be the best band you have never seen with few public events to their name but hundreds of weddings, bar mitzvahs (yes seriously), wild west hoedowns etc. With their collaboration on The Maypole Manual and their own latest CD this might be about to change.
