North West Morris with Phil Davies

North West Morris is a very precise, energetic style of morris dancing orginating from the mill towns of Cheshire and Lancashire. In this workshop we will be learning a dance called Ripon 9 Man, originally written by the Ripon City Morris Dancers and now danced by sides all over the country. Some experience of NW Morris would be useful but not essential. Please wear comfortable shoes you can dance in, such as trainers (no clogs!), and please bring short sticks if you have them but there will be a supply for those who don’t. Phil has been dancing NW Morris for 11 years; he is a member of Customs and Exiles, and ex-member and foreman of dance of Basingclog Morris.
