Alcohol at the Venues

Alcohol is sold in the EUSA bars in Teviot and Pleasance, for example the Loft Bar to which we have exclusive access both evenings.

Hobgoblin Stage (South Side Community Centre) will have a bar selling soft drinks in the evening. It is a BYOB venue, with a Tesco right across the street. Alcohol is sold until 10pm.

McEwan Hall and South Hall are dry venues, water will be available. Apologise for any inconveniences.

Teviot

Main Student Union on Bristo Square, including the Debating Hall, Dining Room, Study for workshops and as venues. Also have bars serving food and drinks. Venue for the Bal Folk and the Open stage concert on Saturday.

Under 18s (with the exception of University of Edinburgh students) will have to be out of the venue by 11pm, we apologise for any inconvenience.

South Hall

Dancing venue for the Scottish Ceilidh on Friday night and Contra on Saturday night. This venue is about 15 minutes walk from the main festival area.

Hobgoblin Stage (South Side Community Centre)

Main venue for English Ceilidh on Friday night, Display Ceilidh and the Scottish/English Ceilidh on Saturday and the infamous Survivors Ceilidh on Sunday.

McEwan Hall

Dancing venue for Scottish Country Dancing on Saturday night. Being the graduation hall for all University of Edinburgh graduates, it is a truly magnificent hall with great mural paintings on the wall and ceiling. It’s worth a look just for the building! Please come along for the beautiful architecture and some Scottish Country dancing.

Pleasance

Various workshop venues, Pentland Room, Ochil Room, Highland Room, 48A Upper, 48A Lower. There is a bar serving food and drinks.

Limited wheelchair accessibility. The Bar, Ochil Room, 48A Upper and 48A Lower are accessible.

Pentland Room has a single (small) step to access, but is on the ground floor.

Munro Room (Festival Reception) is unfortunately not accessible. Please as a friendly person to fetch someone from committee, and we will be happy to help you in the main lobby. Sorry for any inconveniences!

Lutton Place

Sleeping and workshop venue in St Peter’s Church hall on Lutton Place.
