Car parking Most venues around Durham city are within walking distance and on street parking is limited and heavily monitored so if arriving by car you will probably want to park and leave your car there for the whole weekend. Walkergate multi storey car park is providing a weekend deal for IVFDF attendees - £9 for the whole weekend. The car park, located under the Gala Theatre, is open 24 hours a day. In order to claim your £9 weekend deal please show your ticket / wristband / ticket order letter to the car park attendant.
Car parks which are open over the whole weekend are available in the following locations:
Walkergate multi storey car park - Walkergate, DH1 1SQ. Tariffs as follows: Monday to Saturday 8.00am - 6.00pm: 0-1 hours: £1.00, 1-2 hours: £1.50, 2-4 hours: £2.50, 4-6 hours: £4.00, 6-24 hours: £6.00. Free on Sundays.
Prince Bishops multi storey car park- Prince Bishops Shopping Centre, DH1 3UJ. Tariffs as follows: 8.00am - 6.00pm - 0-2 hours: £1.80, 2-4 hours: £2.70, 4-6 hours: £5.50, over 6 hours: £11.00. 6.00pm to 8.00am: £1.50 per visit. This car park is a good option because you pay on your way out so don't have to keep going back to buy more pay and display tickets.
Durham Railway station car park- North Road, DH1 4RB. £10.50 for up to 24 hours, £16 for a long weekend ticket (Friday - Monday).
The Sands car park - Walkergate, DH1 1SQ. Tariffs as follows: Monday to Saturday 8.00am - 6.00pm: 0-2 hours: £1.20,2-3 hours: £1.80, 3-4 hours: £2.40,4-5 hours: £3.00, 5-6 hours: £3.60, over 6 hours: £6.00. Sundays and evenings 6.00pm to 8.00am: £1.20 per visit. The Gates multi storey car park- Only open 7am - 10pm. Walkergate, DH1 1SQ. Tariffs as follows: Monday to Saturday 8.00am - 6.00pm - 0-2 hours: £1.70,2-4 hours: £2.60, 4-6 hours: £5.00, over 6 hours: £10.00. 6.00pm - 10.00pm - £1.00 per visit. Free on Sundays.
Territorial Lane - This car park usually requires a university permit to enter however on Saturdays between 8.30am and 3pm it is open to the public for a single payment of £2 (which goes to charity). The car park usually fills up by 11am but once you have a place it would be possible to leave your car there overnight.
If you intend to use the Park and Ride service into the centre of the city (£1.70 return) you can park at the Howlands Park and Ride car park during the day. If you park here and do not use the park and ride service, or leave your car there over night you may receive a penalty charge notice.

Coach parking There is capacity for 11 coaches to park in the The Sands car park over the weekend free of charge. Walkergate, DH1 1SQ.
