Durham is a small city and most venues are a short walk away from each other. Approximate distances and a map with all locations can be found here. However, some festival attendees may find the following two services useful during the weekend:

Evening Shuttle Bus

Because of the distance between Vane Tempest Hall (one of our sleeping venues) and the evening dance venues IVFDF Durham is providing a shuttle minibus service between the two venues. The bus will also stop at the Durham Student Union (DSU) for access to Alington House and Elvet Methodist Church. All journeys will cost £1 (regardless of whether you get off at the DSU stop).

Please note the bus will not pick up or set down at St. Aidan's College. If you wish to take the bus to / from St. Adian's College please use the Van Mildert College bus stop a short distance away.

The service will run every 20 minutes between the following times:

Vane Tempest Hall - DSU - Van Mildert College main entrance 

Friday 5 March: 8pm - 1am

Saturday 6 March: 7pm - 1am

Van Mildert College main entrance - DSU - Vane Tempest Hall

Friday 5 March: 8pm - 1am

Satruday 6 March: 7pm - 1am

Cathedral Bus

Durham County Council provides a fully accessible low floor minibus service between the train station and Palace Green (near Alington house) and also between The Sands car park and Palace Green, from where there is easy access to the festival reception at Alington House. The train station - Palace Green service is being extended on Friday 5th March espeicially for IVFDF. All journeys on the bus cost 50p and tickets are valid all day. Senior citizens travel free and children under 14 years at half fare. Explorer North East tickets are also valid. Directions from bus stop to IVFDF reception: From the bus stop (marked on the map), exit Palace Green via Owengate, the route that the bus entered Palace Green from (facing away from the cathedral), follow down to the fork in the road (approximately 30 metres), turn right and Alington House will be on the left, clearly marked. 

The service runs every 20 minutes between the following times:

The Sands Coach and Car Parks to Cathedral via Claypath and Market Place

Friday 5 and Saturday 6 March: 9.23am - 5.03pm 

Sunday 7 March: 9.43am - 4.43pm
