The
Inter Varsity Folk Dance Festival 1998
27th
February to 1st March
IVFDF is a wild and wacky folk dance festival arranged for students
by students. This doesn't mean that you have to be a student to attend,
it just means that the festival is produced with students in mind; i.e.
no five star accomodation on site, no fancy publications and no sleeping.
But there are benefits, we still get in big bands, still have loads of
workshops running simultaneously, still have loads of music sessions and
are able to keep ticket prices to a minimum. This year tickets are
priced at 12 or 10 pounds (the later price for students) - this includes
everything - workshops, morris tours, evening ceilidhs and indoor camping.
There are other prices for just evenings or workshops.
When is IVFDF?
IVFDF normally happens around the last weekend of February/first weekend
of March. The next one is from 27th Februrary to 1st March '98.
Starts on the Friday evening with a Ceilidh, workshops all morning Saturday
(and of course the Morris Tour) and display dances and Ceilidh in the afternoon.
The Ceilidh with Chris Wood and Andy Cutting playing is on in the evening
and on the Sunday, well more workshops and a survivor's Ceilidh
Where is IVFDF?
Well IVFDF roams from University to Unviersity. In 1996 at Edinburgh,
Sheffield University CeilidhSoc won its bid to host IVFDF in '98.
And here we are. These are the web pages were you'll find the latest
information, bookmark them please for reference later! The event
will be sited at the University of Sheffield and Union of Student Buildings.
A map will appear on these pages nearer the time.
