The
Virgin Ceilidh
You've turned
up in Sheffield for IVFDF, you're new to the folk scene (or all you want
is just a load of fun and basic dances) and you don't know where to start...
this Ceilidh is for you. Featuring Trev with Roger the Badger, a
great local Band, this Ceilidh promises partner swapping galore, with more
reels, jigs, polkas, beer, hornpipes and waltzes than you know what to
do with.
Saturday
Day
Workshops
There, as in
past IVFDF's, will be a large collection and choice of workshops.
In fact, there are over 35 workshops .
Morris
Tour
Planet Morris...
our friendly, resident morris side, will be organising a tour of the sights
of Sheffield, with dancing here, there and ... well, everywhere.
Register your side when you arrive on the Friday evening.
The
Lothian Band (Scottish Dance)
For a good Scottish
Country Dance, it seemed best to look to Scotland. For an excellence
dance you need to look no futher than The Lothian Band. Recognised
both within Scotland and elsewhere, they will excite and please novice
and experienced dancers. Your MC for the evening is Ian Brockbank.
Amaryllis
(Dancers Dance)
The band features
a line-up of twin piano accordions. This, coupled with a lot of practice
and musical ability make Amarylis an excellent dance band. With two
matched instruments and a good deal of inventiveness, the harmonies generated
can really lift the dancers all evening. The caller for the evening
is Colin Messer; a style of English and American dances spattered with
a few of his own dances which are bound to confuse and delight.
Survivors
Ceilidh
This is it, the
end of IVFDF. WANTED - Callers and Musicians to make this a success!
Featuring the all famous IVFDF'98 Scratch Band ... and your chance
to call some dances (should you want to).
